Azerbaijan Urges Restraint and Dialogue Amid Escalating Tensions Between India and Pakistan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has issued an official statement expressing deep concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, following a recent attack in the Pahalgam region.
In its statement, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry urged both nations to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could further aggravate the volatile situation. “It is important to refrain from unilateral actions in such a volatile situation,” the Ministry emphasized.
The statement underscored the importance of constructive engagement, calling on India and Pakistan to resolve differences through dialogue and diplomacy. Highlighting the need for transparency and accountability, Azerbaijan also expressed hope that “an open and transparent international investigation will be carried out to resolve the current situation.”
Azerbaijan reaffirmed its support for a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the longstanding conflict between the two South Asian neighbors. The Ministry stressed that meaningful negotiations—based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions—remain the most effective path toward lasting peace.
“Recognizing the shared and mutual interest in regional stability, we hope the sides will pursue diplomatic channels to foster peace and cooperation, safeguarding the well-being of their peoples and the broader region,” the statement concluded.
Azerbaijan’s remarks come at a time of heightened diplomatic sensitivity in South Asia and reflect Baku’s consistent support for the peaceful resolution of regional disputes through dialogue, legal frameworks, and multilateral cooperation.
