Iran Reaffirms Commitment to Independence and National Dignity on Student Day

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has emphasized that the Iranian nation remains steadfast in defending its independence, dignity, and right to self-determination, marking the country’s observance of Student Day on November 4.

In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, Baqaei reflected on the historical significance of the day, recalling key moments in Iran’s modern history that symbolize the nation’s enduring resistance against foreign domination and injustice.

He referred to the exile of Imam Khomeini (RA) in 1964 following protests against the capitulation law, the martyrdom of students in 1978 who stood up against the authoritarian regime, and the events of November 4, 1979, which represented the Iranian nation’s collective rejection of decades of foreign interference.

Baqaei wrote that throughout these pivotal decades, a consistent message has resonated — that the Iranian people are determined to safeguard their sovereignty, uphold their dignity, and shape their own destiny free from external influence.

Student Day, observed annually on Aban 13 in the Iranian calendar, commemorates the courage and sacrifices of students who played a vital role in Iran’s revolutionary history and continue to symbolize the nation’s commitment to independence and self-determination.
