Iran, Tajikistan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni met with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon in Tehran to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the strong cultural and historical bonds between the two nations.
During the meeting, Minister Momeni conveyed President Rahmon’s readiness to implement the memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that were signed during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent official visit to Dushanbe. He expressed optimism that the longstanding cultural, religious, and linguistic affinities shared by Iran and Tajikistan would serve as a solid foundation for further expanding bilateral relations.
Momeni also highlighted the progress made in facilitating travel between the two countries, noting the implementation of a visa waiver for air travel as part of the first phase of easing mobility.
For his part, President Rahmon reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Iran and stated that there are no restrictions on strengthening ties across various sectors. He specifically emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration in political, security, cultural, social, and tourism areas.
The meeting reflects a mutual desire to foster a comprehensive partnership and to build upon the agreements reached during recent high-level engagements between Tehran and Dushanbe.
