Iran to Strengthen Ties with China under New Administration, Says Foreign Ministry

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In a statement made on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani announced that Iran’s relations with China are set to be enhanced and strengthened under the next administration. This declaration was made during Kanaani’s weekly press conference, where he commented on the future of Tehran-Beijing relations following the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as Iran’s new president.
Kanaani highlighted that Iran’s relations with various countries, particularly those with friendly ties, would naturally be fortified with a focus on common interests aligned with the general and established policies of the country’s establishment. He expressed optimism about the further promotion of Iran’s relations with friendly nations, including China.
“Iran’s foreign policy is based on promoting constructive interaction with all countries willing to engage in a reciprocal and constructive approach while observing mutual respect,” Kanaani stated. He emphasized the goal of expanding bilateral ties with nations ready to collaborate on this basis.
Masoud Pezeshkian, a reformist and former health minister, was declared Iran’s next president on Saturday after winning a runoff election against principlist Saeed Jalili, a former chief negotiator in Iran’s nuclear talks with world powers. Pezeshkian secured 16,384,403 votes compared to Jalili’s 13,538,179.
The election of Pezeshkian signals a potential shift in Iran’s domestic and foreign policies, with an emphasis on strengthening relationships with key international partners such as China.
