Iranian Air Defense Command Announces Successful Interception of Israeli Airstrikes
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: The public relations office of Iran’s Air Defense Command has reported the successful interception of Israeli airstrikes targeting military sites across Iran, specifically in Tehran, Ilam province, and Khuzestan province.
In a statement issued Saturday, the Iranian Air Defense Command confirmed that Israeli airstrikes were part of what it described as escalating hostilities by Israel. The attacks reportedly caused limited damage, but Iran’s air defense systems responded swiftly, intercepting and countering the airstrikes.
Despite prior warnings from Iran regarding Israel’s “adventurous actions,” the command stated that these aggressive moves took place. Citizens were urged to remain calm, stand in solidarity, and rely exclusively on official news sources to avoid misinformation from external media.
Earlier, IRNA, Iran’s state news agency, reported that the nation’s air defenses were activated when Israeli forces launched the strikes. An air defense official noted that an investigation is underway to assess the full scope of the events.
Explosions were reportedly heard in several parts of Iran around 2:15 a.m. local time (10:45 p.m. GMT on Friday), primarily west of Tehran. Approximately two and a half hours later, Iran’s anti-missile systems activated again in some eastern and central regions in response to further attacks.
