Iranian Deputy FM: Nation Rejects Requests Made Under Pressure and Sanctions

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has reaffirmed that the Iranian nation will not accept any demands imposed through pressure, sanctions, or threats.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of an exhibition highlighting Iranian women’s achievements on Tuesday, Gharibabadi criticized the impact of sanctions that infringe upon people’s rights across various sectors. He asserted that such measures disrupt lives but ultimately fail to achieve their intended objectives.
Gharibabadi also dismissed Western nations’ claims of being champions of human rights, accusing them of hypocrisy. He stated that those who purport to advocate for human rights are, in fact, the principal violators of Iranian people’s rights. He pointed to unilateral sanctions imposed by these countries against Iran, as well as their resolutions in the United Nations Human Rights Council and the UN General Assembly targeting Tehran.
Highlighting Iran’s commitment to human rights, Gharibabadi emphasized that the country has been a victim of terrorism, with over 23,000 Iranian men, women, and children falling prey to terrorist attacks.
Addressing the ongoing situation in Gaza, he strongly condemned the crimes committed by the Israeli regime. He criticized those who profess to uphold human rights for their inaction in the face of such atrocities, alleging that they have instead extended political, financial, and military support to Israel.
Earlier, on February 24, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi voiced concerns over the exploitation of human rights as a political instrument by certain nations. He warned that some countries use human rights as a means to exert political and economic pressure or interfere in the internal affairs of other nations.
Araqchi called upon all governments to uphold human rights principles with fairness and impartiality. He underscored that Iran has long been a victim of such biased policies and reiterated Tehran’s demand for the immediate removal of all unilateral sanctions. These sanctions, he argued, violate the fundamental human rights of Iranians and have inflicted suffering on millions of innocent people.
The statements from Iran’s senior officials reflect the nation’s firm stance against external coercion and reinforce its call for a more equitable approach to human rights on the global stage.
