Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Meets Russian Lawmakers Amid Growing Bilateral Ties
Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with senior members of Russia’s State Duma and Federation Council on Tuesday, the first day of his official visit to Moscow.
During the meeting, Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee, highlighted that bilateral trade between Iran and Russia had surpassed $5 billion, emphasizing Moscow’s determination to further expand ties with Tehran.
Araghchi affirmed Iran’s commitment to developing comprehensive relations with the Russian Federation, noting that parliamentary cooperation between the two countries was strengthening alongside broader engagement across various sectors.
Earlier in the day, Araghchi held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other senior officials. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the discussions will cover international issues, including Iran’s nuclear program, as well as key regional matters.
