Iranian Minister Highlights Regional Security Concerns at 23rd SCO Summit in Islamabad

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: The 23rd summit of the heads of government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries commenced today in Islamabad, Pakistan, featuring the attendance of Iran’s delegation led by Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak.
In his opening remarks at the summit, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the representatives of the member states, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among SCO countries. Upon his arrival, Atabak was greeted by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
During the two-day summit, which runs from October 15 to 16, participating countries are set to sign a joint document aimed at strengthening collaboration among the member states. On the sidelines of the summit, Minister Atabak is scheduled to meet with Pakistan’s commerce minister to discuss bilateral trade relations.
In his address, Atabak urged SCO member states to take a firm stance against Israeli actions and what he termed “U.S. economic terrorism.” He highlighted the significance of such gatherings in the context of global challenges, particularly concerning the preservation of peace, stability, and security. The Iranian minister reaffirmed that Iran’s foreign policy prioritizes regional security and the fight against Takfiri terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and organized crime.
Atabak also condemned the Israeli regime’s aggression against Iran, describing it as a clear violation of international peace and security. His comments reflect the Iranian government’s commitment to addressing pressing issues facing the region and fostering cooperation among SCO members in countering shared threats.
The summit presents a crucial platform for member countries to collaborate on key issues affecting regional stability and economic development.
