Iranian President Calls on Germany to Act Against Israel’s Actions in Gaza
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged European countries, particularly Germany, to take a more proactive role in ending what he described as Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, rather than offering support to the regime. His comments came during a phone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday.
“The people of the world expect European countries, especially Germany, to play an effective role in ending the Zionist genocide in Gaza instead of supporting this regime,” Pezeshkian stated. He emphasized that global expectations are rising as the Israeli regime continues its actions in Gaza, which he labeled as genocidal, and engages in terrorist activities in other nations, in violation of international law. These actions, he warned, pose serious threats to both regional stability in West Asia and global peace.
President Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to maintaining regional and global peace, security, and stability, highlighting these as core policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He reiterated that Iran considers it its duty to adhere to international law and regulations.
While Iran remains open to expanding interactions with all countries and advocates for problem-solving through negotiations, Pezeshkian made it clear that the nation will not succumb to external pressure, sanctions, bullying, or aggression. He stressed that Iran reserves the right to respond to aggressors in accordance with international law.
The Iranian president also expressed a desire to strengthen relations with all European countries, including Germany, based on principles of friendship, mutual respect, and trust-building measures.
Chancellor Scholz, in turn, congratulated President Pezeshkian on his recent election victory. He expressed Germany’s willingness and readiness to enhance bilateral relations with Iran across all sectors. Scholz also underscored that the establishment of peace and security in West Asia is a key priority for Germany’s foreign policy in the region. He called for an immediate end to the war in Gaza and the establishment of a ceasefire.
