Iranian President Congratulates Rouhollah Rostami on Gold Medal Victory

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has extended his congratulations to Rouhollah Rostami, who claimed the gold medal in the 80 kg weightlifting category at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Rostami’s exceptional performance not only earned him the top spot but also set a new world record.

The competition, held at the ‘La Chapelle Arena’ in Paris, featured top athletes from China, Iraq, Ivory Coast, the Dominican Republic, Great Britain, and South Korea. Rostami, representing Iran, dominated the event by successfully lifting 230 kg in his first attempt. He followed this with an impressive lift of 234 kg in his second move. In his third and final attempt, Rostami shattered the world record by lifting 242 kg, securing his place as champion.

Athletes from China and Iraq took home the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

President Pezeshkian praised Rostami’s achievement as a source of pride for the nation, highlighting his perseverance and strength as an inspiration for athletes across Iran.
