Iran’s FM Urges UK’s Lammy to End Support for Israel Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, calling for an end to Britain’s military and political support for Israel amid escalating regional tensions. The discussion followed recent Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military facilities, which prompted Araghchi to reiterate Iran’s right to defend its sovereignty as enshrined in international law and the UN Charter.
Minister Araghchi urged immediate action from the global community, particularly the UN Security Council, to condemn Israel’s recent hostilities. He emphasized that these actions are part of a broader pattern of aggression affecting Gaza and Lebanon, calling for urgent international measures to hold Israeli leaders accountable and halt what he termed as ongoing genocide in these areas.
Secretary Lammy responded by stressing the importance of restraint from all parties to support diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation in West Asia and preventing the conflict from spreading further.
