Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi Meets UNGA President Baerbock in New York

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Annalena Baerbock on Saturday, during the 80th annual session of the General Assembly in New York.

Araghchi, who previously served as deputy foreign minister and now leads Iran’s delegation to the UN, met Baerbock—Germany’s former top diplomat—on the sidelines of the high-level meetings.

The Iranian foreign minister has engaged in dozens of bilateral discussions with his counterparts and international figures since arriving in New York, while also participating in various ministerial-level sessions convened within the UN framework.

The 80th session of the General Assembly, which opened on September 9 under the theme “Better Together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”, has brought together world leaders to deliberate on pressing global challenges.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the General Assembly on Wednesday, presenting Tehran’s views on international peace and development. He also met with a number of heads of state and the UN Secretary-General before departing New York for Tehran.
