Kazakh and French Foreign Ministers Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Partnership in Telephone Conversation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: At the initiative of the French side, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev held a telephone conversation with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Jean-Noël Barrot, the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

During the discussion, both ministers exchanged views on key areas of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance of further strengthening Kazakh-French relations built on mutual respect, trust, and constructive dialogue.

The parties reviewed a wide range of cooperation areas of mutual interest and expressed their readiness to deepen the strategic partnership between Astana and Paris.

Minister Kosherbayev and Minister Barrot reaffirmed their commitment to advancing political dialogue, maintaining regular contacts, and enhancing interagency cooperation. They also discussed the progress made in implementing the agreements reached following President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to France in November 2024, as well as the meeting between the two heads of state held in September 2025 in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

In conclusion, Minister Kosherbayev confirmed his readiness to pay an official visit to Paris and extended an invitation to his French counterpart to visit Kazakhstan.

France remains one of Kazakhstan’s key trade and investment partners. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover reached USD 4.22 billion (including USD 2.89 billion in exports and USD 1.33 billion in imports), while the total volume of French investments in Kazakhstan exceeded USD 20.4 billion, underscoring the depth of economic cooperation between the two nations.
