“The motto of the IV International Biennale of Applied Arts – Globalization and the Preservation of National Traditions: Path Choice – as a leading idea aims at considering the problem of preserving the identity of applied arts and overcoming the accelerating unification of traditions amid rapid globalization of economy and the dominance of mass culture,” says Binafsha Nodir, the curator of the Biennale.
Kazakhstan is represented at the event by Leyla Mahat, artist and gallery owner, holder of the Order of Qurmet, with an unusual and mesmerizing project “Mother’s Scarf.” The project consists of handkerchiefs of women and their mothers from around the world.
