Kazakh, Canadian Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Talks to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev held a telephone conversation on Wednesday with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand, in a discussion initiated by the Canadian side, according to information released by the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the call, Minister Kosherbayev extended his congratulations to Canada on its successful chairmanship of the Group of Seven (G7), noting the country’s constructive leadership within the forum.

He highlighted the steady strengthening of Kazakh–Canadian economic cooperation, pointing to the upward trajectory in bilateral trade and the implementation of major investment projects involving leading Canadian companies. Among them are Cameco, Ivanhoe, Teck Resources, First Quantum Minerals and B2Gold, which are contributing significantly to sectors such as mining, energy and resource development in Kazakhstan.

For her part, Minister Anita Anand affirmed Canada’s commitment to advancing cooperation with Kazakhstan across a broad range of areas, including trade and economic development, energy, investment, innovation and education. She also underlined the importance of maintaining regular political dialogue and continuing high-level exchanges between the two countries.

The two ministers additionally exchanged views on key international and regional issues, and reviewed ongoing joint efforts within various multilateral platforms.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further deepen the partnership and expand opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
