Kazakh Foreign Minister Advocates for Peaceful Resolutions at Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, participated in the joint Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit focused on the Palestinian crisis and efforts to stabilize Lebanon. The summit, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, brought together representatives from member states to address pressing challenges facing the Islamic world, with a particular focus on the volatile situation in the Middle East.

In his address, Minister Nurtleu underscored the critical role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in promoting stability and peace across Muslim-majority regions. He called on both OIC and Arab League members to work collectively to formulate practical proposals to swiftly resolve ongoing regional conflicts. Minister Nurtleu highlighted the importance of supporting UN peacekeeping missions, especially in sensitive areas like the Golan Heights and Lebanon, emphasizing that any attack on peacekeepers and diplomatic missions constitutes a severe breach of international and humanitarian law.

Additionally, Minister Nurtleu urged OIC member states to utilize resources within the Islamic Organization for Food Security to assist Palestinians affected by the crisis. He encouraged the fundraising initiatives that aim to provide immediate food aid, showing Kazakhstan’s commitment to humanitarian support for Palestinians facing hardship.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Kazakh Foreign Minister held bilateral meetings with counterparts from Brunei, Guinea-Bissau, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Mali, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia. These discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties in various domains, including political, economic, investment, and cultural cooperation.

The Riyadh summit concluded with a final resolution and the establishment of a Ministerial Gaza Contact Group. This group’s primary mandate is to work toward an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians.

Kazakhstan’s participation in the summit underscored its dedication to fostering peace and advocating for diplomatic solutions to the pressing issues in the Islamic world.
