Kazakh Foreign Minister and EU Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Bilateral and Regional Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev met with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan, Ambassador Aleška Simkić, to discuss prospects for the further development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union, as well as ways to enhance interregional connectivity within the “Central Asia–EU” framework, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry reported.

Minister Kosherbayev highlighted the high level of political dialogue and the steady progress of bilateral engagement between Kazakhstan and the European Union. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the consistent implementation of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA), which marks its 10th anniversary this year.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues, including the development of transport and logistics corridors, the green transition, digitalization, and efforts to improve Kazakhstan’s business climate.

Ambassador Simkić commended the advanced and constructive nature of Kazakhstan–EU relations, noting the qualitative strengthening of the partnership in recent years. She reiterated that the European Union regards Kazakhstan as a key partner in Central Asia and reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to expanding cooperation in support of Kazakhstan’s sustainable development and modernization efforts.

Concluding the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation, and agreed to maintain an active dialogue through upcoming reciprocal visits and joint initiatives aimed at fostering regional stability and shared prosperity.
