Kazakh Foreign Minister Participates in SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting

Tianjin, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States, according to the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers exchanged views on strengthening foreign policy coordination among SCO member states in light of evolving global dynamics. They also reviewed the progress of preparations for the forthcoming SCO Summit of Heads of State, scheduled to be held in September 2025 in Tianjin, China.

In his address, Minister Nurtleu underscored Kazakhstan’s strong confidence in the SCO’s capacity to foster mutually beneficial partnerships and promote sustainable development. He emphasized the importance of transforming the SCO region into a space of peace and prosperity.

“I am convinced that the SCO will continue to strengthen its international authority and effectiveness as a multilateral institution with a unique model of equal cooperation based on the principles of the ‘Shanghai Spirit’,” said Nurtleu.

The Kazakh Foreign Minister also lauded China’s systematic and constructive approach to the implementation of agreements reached during the Astana SCO Summit in July 2024. He stressed the need to maintain consistent efforts toward institutional development and enhancing the effectiveness of the Organization.

As part of the visit, the foreign ministers of SCO member states held a joint meeting with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment to strengthening dialogue and advancing practical cooperation rooted in trust, equality, and mutual respect.

The participants reiterated their shared goal of deepening multilateral partnerships to ensure regional stability, security, and long-term sustainable development across the SCO region.
