Kazakh President Tokayev Condemns Drone Attacks on Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan, Calls for Joint Investigation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has strongly condemned the recent drone attacks targeting Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region, reaffirming Kazakhstan’s support for its ally and brotherly nation.

According to the press service of Akorda, President Tokayev expressed a firm stance against the act carried out against Azerbaijan.

Presidential Advisor and Press Secretary Aibek Smadiyarov stated that the Kazakh leader condemned the attack while also emphasizing the importance of a comprehensive investigation.

“At the same time, the Head of State expressed hope for a thorough, joint investigation with Iran into the incident, as well as for the resolution of the conflict situation through diplomatic means to avoid escalation of tensions in the region,” Smadiyarov said.

Earlier, around midday on March 5, drone strikes reportedly targeted the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, including the Nakhchivan International Airport, from the territory of Iran.

Kazakhstan reiterated its support for Azerbaijan and stressed the importance of resolving the situation through dialogue and diplomatic engagement to maintain regional stability.
