Kazakhstan and Brazil Explore Prospects for Multi-Faceted Cooperation
Rio de Janeiro, The Gulf Observer: At the behest of the Brazilian government, Kairat Umarov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, undertook a significant diplomatic visit to the Federative Republic of Brazil. This marked the sixth installment of political consultations between the two nations, as reported by the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
During his visit, Umarov engaged in discussions with Eduardo Paes Saboia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, where a spectrum of topics was deliberated upon. Key among these were the current status of bilateral relations, global issues of mutual concern, and multilateral cooperation concerning initiatives and candidacies within international organizations.
Acknowledging the proactive foreign policy agendas of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and President Lula da Silva of Brazil, both parties expressed a keen interest in aligning efforts amongst the countries of the global south to address pressing international challenges.
Recognizing the significance of enhancing political dialogue and economic ties, both sides underscored the necessity of reciprocal high-level visits, fortifying parliamentary diplomacy, and augmenting trade and investment cooperation, leveraging the capabilities of the Kazakhstan-Brazil Business Council.
In a bid to expedite bilateral processes, both sides pledged to accelerate the approval of several key bilateral agreements. Furthermore, they welcomed the broader presence of Honorary Consuls of Kazakhstan within Brazil.
Delegations from both nations expressed contentment with the commitment of their respective foreign ministries to maintain regular and robust communication across all facets of bilateral relations. The next round of political consultations is scheduled to convene in Astana.
During his stay in the Brazilian capital, Umarov convened with various stakeholders, including members of the Kazakhstan-Brazil parliamentary friendship group, high-ranking Brazilian officials, and representatives from key Brazilian institutions such as the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).
Umarov’s participation in the Round Table discussion on Central Asia, hosted by the Rio Branco Diplomatic Academy of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, was particularly noteworthy, marking the first-ever dedicated event of its kind.
The Brazilian government expressed profound appreciation for the visit of the Kazakh delegation, citing its instrumental role in revitalizing and deepening bilateral ties between the two nations.
The visit of Kairat Umarov served as a testament to the enduring commitment of Kazakhstan and Brazil towards fostering robust and mutually beneficial relations, underpinned by shared values and common aspirations for peace and prosperity.
