Kazakhstan and Japan Discuss Strategic Partnership in Astana Meeting

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakayev, and the Director General of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Nakagome Masashi, convened in Astana to discuss the current issues of political and economic cooperation between their countries, according to a report by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting focused on several key areas aimed at further strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Japan. Both sides engaged in detailed discussions on intensifying economic ties and expanding the bilateral legal framework, reflecting a mutual commitment to deeper collaboration.

Additionally, the dialogue included an exchange of views on coordination within multilateral organizations such as the United Nations (UN) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), highlighting the countries’ cooperative stance on global issues.

A significant portion of the talks was dedicated to the forthcoming First Summit of the Central Asia+Japan Dialogue, which both parties acknowledged as a crucial event. Deputy Minister Bakayev emphasized the importance of high-level visits, noting that they are vital for enhancing the political and economic dialogue, thereby contributing to the development of the strategic partnership.

Nakagome Masashi outlined potential areas for future cooperation, specifically highlighting transport and logistics, human resources development, and the “green” economy as priority sectors.

Concluding the meeting, both the Kazakh and Japanese representatives agreed to maintain a close dialogue at the foreign ministry level, ensuring continuous efforts to strengthen and deepen the cooperation between Kazakhstan and Japan.

This meeting signifies a proactive approach by both nations to reinforce their bilateral relations and collaborate on shared interests, paving the way for a more integrated and strategic partnership.
