Kazakhstan and U.S. Bolster Trade and Investment Cooperation

Astana, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, welcomed U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai on her working visit to Astana. The meeting, reported by media and cited by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on advancing Kazakh-American trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) meeting, which took place in a regional format. This gathering coincided with the 20th anniversary of the U.S. – Central Asian TIFA, a milestone event symbolically held in Astana, a hub of trade and investment growth in the region.

The discussions underscored the United States’ pivotal role as a key investor in Kazakhstan’s economy, with investments exceeding 60 billion US dollars. Additionally, the mutual trade turnover between the two nations saw a significant rise in 2023, increasing by 33% to reach 4 billion dollars. This growth underscores the enduring and robust partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States.

The meeting highlighted the strategic importance of sustained economic and trade relations, paving the way for further cooperation and development.
