Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Inaugurate New Air Route

Astana, The Gulf Observer: The Civil Aviation Committee has officially announced the introduction of the T916 route, a new air corridor traversing the airspace of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. According to media reports, this route is one of the supplementary pathways for flights from Europe to Southeast Asia.

Since its inception, the T916 route has facilitated 19 flights and is expected to see increased utilization as airlines and operators become more accustomed to its advantages. Among the early adopters of this route are Lufthansa Cargo (Germany), Cargolux (Luxembourg), Cargolux Italy (Italy), Nomad Aviation (Switzerland), Western Global Airlines (USA), and Aerologic Cargo Airlines (Germany).

The T916 route spans 2,187 km, with 437 km over Uzbekistan and 1,750 km over Kazakhstan. The establishment of this route was in response to a proposal from various airlines and the Uzbek State Unitary Enterprise Center “Uzaeronavigation.” It has also been incorporated into the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) catalogue of preferred routes.

Experts from Kazaeronavigatsia, the air navigation service provider of Kazakhstan, have highlighted the benefits of the new route. They assert that the T916 will enhance the attractiveness of Kazakhstan’s airspace to international airlines while concurrently reducing the workload of air traffic controllers in South Kazakhstan.

As the summer progresses and the route gains familiarity among international carriers, its usage is anticipated to rise significantly, further solidifying its role in facilitating efficient air travel between Europe and Southeast Asia.
