Penang, The Gulf Observer: The Kazakhstan-Malaysia Business Forum titled “Kazakhstan-Malaysia: Discover the Heart of Eurasia” was held in Penang, Malaysia, with the participation of government officials, business leaders, and academic representatives, as reported by the Kazakh MFA.

The event was organized by the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Penang with the support of the Kazakh Embassy in Malaysia. Kazakh Invest NC JSC, Kazakh Tourism NC JSC, and Almaty Development Company presented investment and tourism opportunities in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Bulat Sugurbayev, emphasized that Kazakhstan views Malaysia as a strategic bridge to Southeast Asia, highlighting direct flights and visa-free travel as key enablers for business partnerships.

Penang’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wong Hong Wei, expressed interest in collaboration on IT, fintech, and smart city development, while Malaysian industrial enterprises, particularly in the metallurgical and steel sectors, showed a keen interest in expanding ties with Kazakhstan.

Louis Ng, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Penang, highlighted Kazakhstan’s economic growth as a gateway for Malaysian businesses to enter Central Asian markets. Additionally, Kazakh representatives showcased the country’s mineral resources, electronic industry potential, and tourism investment opportunities.

The forum concluded with a discussion on Kazakhstan’s geostrategic significance and business-friendly policies, with many participants expressing interest in visiting the country. Plans are underway to organize a business delegation from Malaysia to Kazakhstan.
