Kazakhstan Opens Honorary Consulate in Manchester

Manchester, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstan has officially opened its Honorary Consulate in Manchester, UK, marking a significant step towards strengthening Kazakh-British relations, according to media reports. The opening ceremony was attended by British politicians, members of the Manchester City Council, Kazakhstani diplomats, students, business representatives, experts, and journalists.
Aliya Ospanova, head of the Centre for International Programs overseeing the Bolashak program, participated in the event during her working visit to Great Britain. In his remarks, Kazakh Ambassador to the UK Magzhan Ilyassov emphasized that the establishment of the Honorary Consulate will provide a new impetus for bilateral cooperation.
“The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Manchester is a significant step towards deeper cooperation. We believe it will become an important element in supporting Kazakhstanis residing or studying here and in promoting our economic and cultural ties,” Ilyassov stated. He also highlighted Manchester’s long-standing reputation as a center for innovation and business, noting that the consulate would enhance opportunities for interaction.
Latif Chohan, a prominent lawyer and former Lord Mayor of Manchester, has been appointed as the honorary consul. He expressed his gratitude for the appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering stronger economic and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and the UK.
The Honorary Consulate is expected to facilitate enhanced investment, trade, and economic connections, as well as cultural and humanitarian interactions between Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom.
