Kazakhstan

Helsinki, The Gulf Observer: A delegation of regional deputy governors, agribusiness representatives, and export-oriented companies from Kazakhstan, led by Vice Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly, paid an official visit to Finland to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, media reports said.

During the visit, the Kazakh delegation held meetings with leading Finnish companies, including Agronic Oy, Pel-Tuote Oy, Sampo-Rosenlew Oy, and Suokone Oy. Discussions were also conducted with EastCham Finland and the Finnish Cereal Committee.

Kazakhstan underscored that it considers Finland a strategic partner in agriculture, citing Finland’s advanced expertise in agrotechnology, sustainable resource management, and the processing and storage of agricultural products. Both sides explored prospects for cooperation in the supply of agricultural machinery, adoption of modern technologies, implementation of joint investment projects, and localization of production.

The delegation also held talks with Pekka Pesonen, Permanent Secretary at Finland’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, focusing on expanding trade in agricultural products, promoting technology exchange, and advancing sustainable farming practices. Following the discussions, the two sides agreed to convene the next meeting of the Kazakhstan–Finland working group on agriculture to further strengthen sectoral ties.

In addition, meetings were held with executives of Valtra, where opportunities for localizing tractor production in Kazakhstan were examined.

Vice Minister Kenzhekhanuly emphasized that Kazakhstan’s agricultural policy prioritizes diversification of export routes, expansion of supply geography, and increasing the share of value-added products in total exports. In this context, the Baltic route was highlighted as a promising gateway to Scandinavian and Northern European markets, offering new opportunities for Kazakhstan’s agricultural exports.
