Kazakhstani Peacekeepers Honored with UN Medals
Astana, The Gulf Observer: Kazakhstani peacekeepers Lieutenant Colonel Altynbek Zhalmukhanov and Major Batyr Tuyakov have been awarded United Nations medals for their significant contributions to maintaining peace and security in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to a statement from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense.
In a ceremonial parade of peacekeeping forces, Lieutenant Colonel Zhalmukhanov, who serves as chief of the main headquarters of the UN mission’s military observers, was entrusted with leading the parade—highlighting Kazakhstan’s growing international stature in peacekeeping efforts. The mission commander, Major General Khar Diouf, praised Zhalmukhanov for his dedication, leadership, and contributions to stabilizing the region during the award ceremony.
The Ministry of Defense underscored the recognition as a testament to Kazakhstan’s commitment to global peace and security, and the professionalism of its peacekeeping forces.
