Kazakhstan’s Men’s Chess Team Secures Bronze Medal at Winter Deaflympics

Ankara, The Gulf Observer: The men’s chess team of Kazakhstan clinched a bronze medal, accumulating 10 points at the XX Winter Deaflympics held in Turkey. The Kazakh team, comprised of Sultan Kozhakhmetov, Samazhan Kettebekov, Maxim Rozhkov, Amangeldi Nauryzgaliyev, Meirman Perneyev, and Viktor Maximenko, showcased exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition.

In the finals, the Kazakh sportsmen secured victories against Italy, Germany, and Serbia, and achieved draws against Ukraine and Poland. The team’s impressive performance earned them a well-deserved bronze medal. The gold medal was claimed by the Croatian team, who outperformed Poland with a total of 12 points.

The XX Winter Deaflympic Games took place in the Turkish city of Erzurum from March 2 to 12, attracting around 1,000 athletes from 36 countries. The competition featured six sports: alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, chess, futsal, and curling. Kazakhstan was represented by 26 athletes who demonstrated their prowess and sportsmanship on the global stage.
