KazTransOil JSC Records 3.4 Million Tons of Kazakh Oil Exports from Aktau Port in 2023
Astana, The Gulf Observer: In the span of 12 months in 2023, KazTransOil JSC, a subsidiary of NC KazMunayGas JSC, achieved an export milestone by shipping 3 million 376 thousand tons of Kazakh oil from the port of Aktau.
This marked a notable increase of 1 million 108 thousand tons compared to the corresponding period in 2022, as reported by the press service of KazMunayGas.
The upsurge in oil transportation was particularly driven by a substantial rise in the shipment volume directed towards the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, soaring from 250 thousand tons to an impressive 1 million 392 thousand tons—an increase of 5.5 times compared to the same period in 2022.
A significant portion of this volume, amounting to 1 million 057 thousand tons, originated from the Tengiz field.
Additionally, during this period, 1 million 984 thousand tons of oil were dispatched from the port of Aktau bound for the port of Makhachkala. This surge in oil transportation aligns with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive in 2022 to enhance the volume of oil transportation through the Trans-Caspian corridor.
In response to this directive, JSC NC KazMunayGas and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, SOCAR, entered into an agreement to transport up to 1.5 million tons of oil annually from the Tengiz field to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline.
