Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: A Khatam Al-Quran ceremony held for members of the Subuh Tadarus group at Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque highlighted the spirit of unity and devotion among the local Muslim community, particularly in conjunction with the month of Shawal.

Advisor I of the mosque’s takmir committee, Awang Haji Zaini bin Awang Haji Damit, said the event was a meaningful initiative that helped strengthen ties of friendship while sustaining the festive spirit of Hari Raya.

“Although Syawal has entered its second week, the atmosphere of celebration among Muslims remains vibrant. This Khatam Al-Quran ceremony further enhances that spirit, especially in fostering closer bonds within the community,” he noted.

He emphasized that the practice of holding Tadarus Al-Quran sessions after obligatory Subuh prayers not only enlivens the mosque but also brings spiritual benefits to village residents who partake in its blessings.

Awang Haji Zaini, who also serves as the village head of Kampong Sungai Besar, Kampong Serdang, and Kampong Sungai Belukut, added that Tadarus plays a vital role in deepening appreciation of the Holy Quran, strengthening unity, and nurturing commendable character among Muslims.

Approximately 20 participants, including members of the takmir committee and congregants of Kampong Sungai Besar Mosque, took part in the ceremony to mark the completion of reciting all 30 juz of the Quran.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of selected surahs, from Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah An-Nas, led by Abdul Rahim bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Tamin. Penghulu of Mukim Kota Batu Rasli bin Taram also joined the event.
