Kuwait Commences Voting for 18th Legislative Term of National Assembly

Kuwait City, The Gulf Observer: Kuwait embarked on the voting process for the 18th legislative term of the National Assembly on Thursday, spanning across the nation’s five electoral constituencies and set to continue until midnight.

According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), there are 834,733 eligible voters poised to select 50 Members of Parliament (MPs) from a pool of 200 candidates to represent them in the new legislature for a term of four years.

Following the closure of voting, the crucial phase of ballot counting will commence, culminating in the official announcement of results and the declaration of winners who will serve in the council for the next four years.

The breakdown of voters and candidates across the electoral constituencies is as follows:

  • In the first constituency, there are 104,038 voters with 41 candidates vying for representation.
  • The second constituency boasts 95,302 eligible voters with 39 candidates competing for their votes.
  • The third constituency has 143,693 voters and 32 hopefuls contending for their support.
  • In the fourth constituency, 220,932 voters will cast their ballots among 48 candidates.
  • The fifth constituency comprises 270,768 eligible voters with 40 candidates vying for their endorsement.
