Lachin Hosts First International Film Days of CIS Countries as Part of City Day Celebrations

Lachin, The Gulf Observer: As part of Lachin City Day celebrations, the “International Film Days of CIS Countries” is being held in Lachin, bringing together cinema enthusiasts and cultural representatives from across the region.

The event, which officially opened on August 26 at the Lachin cinema, is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund of the CIS, and the National Assembly of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan (NAYORA).

The opening ceremony was attended by Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin district, alongside returning residents and film enthusiasts.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rashad Gasimov, Head of a department at the State Film Fund, underscored the importance of hosting the first international film festival in Lachin. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and partner institutions for their efforts in organizing the event.

The three-day program features screenings of eight films from seven countries. The opening day included the premiere of the documentary “Lachin, the Governor and I” by director Amil Amal, produced by Hochazfilm studio with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Film Agency. The film depicts the life and political career of Khosrov Bey Sultanov, Governor-General of Karabakh and Minister of Defense of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic.

Following the screening, director Amil Amal thanked all institutions involved in the production of the film and the organization of the festival. Cinema lovers also enjoyed screenings of “Nabat” by Kazakh director Rashid Suleymanov and “Esimde” by Kyrgyz filmmaker Aktan Arim Kubat.

The International Film Days of CIS Countries will run until August 28. In parallel, the CIS Youth Camp is also continuing its activities in Lachin.
