Fuzuli

Fuzuli, The Gulf Observer: The city of Fuzuli marked the final stop for an international delegation of world travelers visiting Karabakh and East Zangezur, concluding a significant two-day tour of the liberated territories.

The delegation was led by Harry Mitsidis, British founder and head of the global travel community NomadMania. Upon arrival, participants observed areas heavily damaged during the period of occupation, while also witnessing the extensive reconstruction and restoration efforts currently underway by the Azerbaijani government.

The visit brought together 79 travelers from 37 countries, making it the largest group of international visitors to tour Karabakh and East Zangezur to date. The tour officially concluded in Fuzuli following visits to various locations across the liberated regions.

NomadMania, known for its unique global ranking system dividing the world into 1,301 regions, has gained prominence among international travelers. Harry Mitsidis currently holds the top global ranking, having visited all designated regions. Azerbaijan also recently hosted the club’s first-ever annual meeting, further strengthening its engagement with the global travel community.

The visit holds particular significance in promoting the liberated territories within the emerging framework of “dark tourism,” offering participants firsthand insight into post-conflict recovery, heritage preservation, and large-scale infrastructure development.

Between 2020 and 2025, a total of 15 international visits by major traveler groups were organized to Karabakh and East Zangezur. This latest tour marks the 16th such initiative, reflecting growing global interest in the region and its ongoing transformation.
