Malaysia Pledges RM10 Million in Humanitarian Aid for Myanmar Earthquake Victims

Kuala Lumpur, The Gulf Observer: Malaysia has pledged RM10 million in humanitarian aid to support victims of the recent earthquake in Myanmar, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced on Sunday (March 30).
Anwar highlighted the severe devastation caused by the earthquake and reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment, as the current Asean chair, to playing an active role in the region’s collective response.
“I have instructed the Foreign Affairs Minister to lead a humanitarian mission to Myanmar next week, reaffirming Malaysia’s support for the ongoing search and rescue efforts,” he said in a statement.
He further noted that teams from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) have already been deployed and are actively engaged in on-ground relief operations, working alongside fellow responders at the frontline.
“Malaysia believes that no nation should face such hardship alone. Regional crises call for regional resolve, and Asean’s duty to protect the well-being of its people must be met with swift, coordinated, and purposeful action,” Anwar stated.
Emphasizing the spirit of Asean unity, Anwar affirmed Malaysia’s commitment to ensuring that aid reaches those in urgent need.
“Malaysia remains unwavering in its commitment to regional unity and to advancing Asean’s humanitarian agenda, grounded in compassion, shared responsibility, and solidarity,” he added.
Malaysia’s proactive response underscores its dedication to humanitarian efforts and strengthens its leadership role within Asean in times of crisis.
