Marking Four Years Since the Liberation of Hadrut Settlement in Azerbaijan
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Today marks the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the Hadrut settlement in Azerbaijan’s Khojavand district from Armenian occupation, as reported by NHC. This significant event occurred during the counter-offensive operations launched by the Azerbaijani Army on September 27, 2020, which aimed to reclaim territories lost during the long-standing conflict.
President Ilham Aliyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, announced the successful liberation of Hadrut along with eight other settlements in his address to the nation on this day. The liberated areas include Gishlag, Garajalli, Afandilar, and Suleymanli in the Jabrayil district; Yukhari Guzlak and Gorazilli in the Fuzuli district; Chayli in the Tartar district; the village of Sor in the Khojavand district; and the Hadrut settlement itself.
The operation to liberate Hadrut is regarded as a pivotal moment in the 44-day war, significantly impacting the course of the conflict. The operation resulted in the destruction of a considerable amount of personnel and military equipment belonging to the Armenian forces.
The liberation of Hadrut not only marked a decisive defeat for the Armenian army but also inflicted a profound psychological blow to their morale. Following this event, the Azerbaijani Army’s strategic pathway to Shusha was opened, further advancing Azerbaijan’s efforts to restore its territorial integrity.
As Azerbaijan commemorates this milestone, the memory of the liberation of Hadrut serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Azerbaijani people in their pursuit of justice and sovereignty.
