Massive Rally in Rabat Denounces Israeli Genocide in Gaza, Calls for Solidarity and Severing of Ties

Rabat

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Thousands of demonstrators flooded the streets of Rabat on Sunday in a powerful display of solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, condemning what they described as Israel’s ongoing genocide campaign and demanding an immediate end to diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv.

From Bab El Had to the gates of the Moroccan Parliament, a sea of Palestinian flags, impassioned chants, and protest banners reflected growing public outrage over the relentless Israeli assault on Gaza. Demonstrators proclaimed, “Gaza’s genocide is only getting worse—silence is no longer an option.”

The protest, organized by the Moroccan Front in Support of Palestine and Against Israeli Ties—a broad coalition of political parties, trade unions, civil society organizations, and public figures—brought together people of all ages and backgrounds united in their condemnation of the Israeli military campaign and Morocco’s ongoing normalization with Israel.

Chants such as “With our souls and our blood, we sacrifice for you, Palestine” and “Morocco and Palestine, one people, not two” echoed through the capital. Many participants demanded an urgent end to Morocco’s diplomatic and economic engagement with Israel, calling it a betrayal of justice and the nation’s historic support for the Palestinian cause.

Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has been under unrelenting Israeli military attacks involving mass killings, forced displacements, the destruction of infrastructure, and the use of starvation as a weapon. Over 21 months of siege have left Palestinians in Gaza facing daily death, hunger, and despair.

Protesters also directed their anger at both Western and Arab governments, accusing them of complicity or inaction in the face of Israeli atrocities. Placards rejected all forms of normalization and demanded the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid to alleviate the catastrophic situation in Gaza.

The rally coincided with a stark warning from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which renewed its appeals for urgent funding and humanitarian access. The agency reported that more than a million children are now caught in a humanitarian disaster, with food, water, and medical supplies intentionally restricted from entering the besieged enclave.

According to UNRWA and other international agencies, Israel’s blockade and military operations are contributing to a deliberate campaign of starvation and displacement, aimed at forcing Palestinians off their historic lands.

As the death toll rises and Gaza’s humanitarian crisis deepens, demonstrators in Rabat vowed to continue their mobilization until justice is served and the world takes concrete steps to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
