Meeting Between President Mirziyoyev and OTP Bank Chairman Marks Strengthened Collaboration

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a crucial meeting on 13 February with the Chairman of the Board of OTP Bank, Sándor Csányi. The meeting focused on reinforcing the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation within the banking and financial sector, particularly in light of the recently completed transaction involving the sale of the state share in Ipoteka Bank to the OTP Group.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the ongoing collaboration and acknowledged the positive dynamics in the banking and financial sector. President Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of enhancing the quality of banking services through digitalization, the introduction of innovative and accessible financial products tailored for small and family businesses, and the implementation of European best practices through staff training.

The meeting also addressed the prospect of deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary in various sectors, including agriculture, winemaking, irrigation, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, and other industries. Special attention was given to discussions surrounding a dedicated economic zone established for Hungarian companies in the Tashkent region.

Sándor Csányi, Chairman of the Board of OTP Bank, affirmed the commitment of Hungarian businesses to actively expand their presence in the Uzbek market, underlining the mutual desire for a strengthened economic partnership.

As a token of appreciation for his outstanding contributions, President Mirziyoyev presented Sándor Csányi with the state award, the Order of Dustlik, recognizing the Hungarian business leader’s impactful role in fostering collaboration between the two nations.
