Nay Pyi Taw, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Prime Minister of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with his delegation, paid homage to His Holiness Samdech Preah Abhisiri Sugandha Mohasangharajah Dhipadi Dr. Bour Kry, one of the Adhipati Sayadaws of Cambodia, and members of the Sangha during their stay at KMA Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw as part of their pilgrimage to Myanmar.
During the meeting, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing discussed the propagation of the Sasana, the construction of the world’s tallest carved sitting marble Buddha image, the Maravijaya Buddha Image, and the significance of the Cambodian Adhipati Sayadaw’s visit in strengthening friendly ties and fostering religious cooperation between Myanmar and Cambodia. He reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to the continuous promotion and preservation of Theravāda Buddhism.
Expressing his gratitude, the Cambodian Adhipati Sayadaw lauded the efforts of the Myanmar government in preserving and propagating Theravāda Buddhism. He emphasized the deep-rooted cultural and religious ties between Cambodia and Myanmar and expressed his joy in seeing international monks pursuing their studies in Myanmar’s Buddhist universities. He also conveyed his admiration for the Maravijaya Buddha Image and extended prayers for the well-being of the Senior General, the people of Myanmar, and the nation’s peace and prosperity.
To commemorate the occasion, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing presented a replica of the Maravijaya Buddha Image and alms to the Cambodian Sayadaw, who in return offered Dhamma gifts.
The Cambodian Adhipati Sayadaw and his delegation had arrived in Yangon on February 2 and visited prominent religious sites, including the revered Shwedagon Pagoda. On the evening of February 4, they visited the Upatasanti Pagoda and Maravijaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw, where officials guided them through the sacred sites. Their pilgrimage will continue with visits to other significant stupas and temples in Myanmar.
