Mirziyoyev receives Chairman of Muslim Board, Uzbekistan
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Nuriddin Kholiknazarov.
During the conversation, the results of the ongoing work in the religious and enlightenment spheres, the study, and bringing to our people the scientific heritage of our great ancestors were considered.
In these troubled times, it is more important than ever to correctly explain Islamic values to the population, especially young people, and to fight ignorance through enlightenment. Therefore, systematic work is being carried out to ensure the stability of the country’s social and spiritual environment, to further improve the quality of religious education, to study the best world experience in this direction, and to introduce it into the activities of religious and educational institutions.
The holy month of Ramadan passed in Uzbekistan in an atmosphere of kindness and mercy. In accordance with the Presidential Resolution of March 21, spiritual and enlightenment events were held this month, encouraging compatriots to charity and generosity, calling to appreciate our peaceful and tranquil life.
At the initiative of Mirziyoyev, with the participation of all imam-khatibs, iftars were held in neighborhoods for more than 1 million low-income people. Donations for 2 billion 446 million UZS were made to needy citizens through the “Waqf” Charitable Public Foundation.
Another important news of Ramadan this year was the sending by the state of 1.4 thousand low-income citizens on the Umrah pilgrimage.
At the meeting, views were exchanged on further strengthening religious tolerance, ensuring guarantees of freedom of conscience in society.
