Morocco Joins New International Peace Council Launched by US President Trump

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco has confirmed its participation as a founding member of a newly established international Peace Council launched by United States President Donald J. Trump, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday.
According to the official statement, the Peace Council aims to support peace efforts in the Middle East while promoting innovative approaches to conflict resolution at the global level. Membership of the council is limited to a select group of international leaders recognised for their commitment to fostering security, stability and long-term prosperity.
The ministry stated that Morocco’s invitation to join the council reflects international recognition of the leadership of King Mohammed VI, highlighting his pivotal role in advancing peace initiatives and underscoring the confidence he commands from the United States and the wider international community.
King Mohammed VI welcomed the invitation and approved Morocco’s participation in the initiative. Morocco will formally ratify the founding charter of the Peace Council, which is set to function as an international organisation focused on restoring stability, strengthening governance and promoting sustainable peace in conflict-affected regions.
The statement noted that the council’s work will prioritise practical cooperation and partnerships aimed at achieving clear and tangible outcomes on the ground.
The Moroccan government also welcomed President Trump’s announcement of the second phase of his Middle East peace plan, including the establishment of a National Committee to temporarily oversee Gaza.
Reaffirming its long-standing position, Morocco reiterated its commitment to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. The kingdom continues to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side in peace and security with Israel.
