Morocco’s Handicraft Exports Rise 11% in 2025, Surpassing MAD 1.23 Billion

Rabat, The Gulf Observer: Morocco’s handicraft exports continued their upward trajectory in 2025, achieving an 11% increase and reaching a total value of over MAD 1.23 billion, the State Secretariat in charge of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy reported.
The Secretariat highlighted that this strong performance reflects the sector’s resilience and ability to sustain growth despite challenges in the global economy. Export growth was particularly notable in January, July, and November, with increases of 31%, 34%, and 27%, respectively, compared to the same months in 2024.
Among exported products, traditional clothing experienced the fastest growth, rising by 75% and increasing its share of total exports from 11% in 2024 to 17% in 2025. Pottery and stone products remained the top export items, holding a 36% share, while Moroccan rugs maintained second place with an 18% contribution. Jewelry also recorded significant growth, rising by 52%.
In terms of international markets, Turkiye showed remarkable growth, with exports more than doubling compared to 2024, making it the third-largest market with a 6% share. The United States strengthened its position as Morocco’s largest export market, with a 25% increase in exports and a 49% share. France remained the second-largest market, though its share fell from 14% to 11%.
Among Moroccan cities, Marrakech remained the leading export hub, followed by Casablanca. Fez recorded exceptional growth, increasing its exports by 81% and raising its share from 13% to 21%, while Tangier also performed well, with a 24% increase in exports and an 8% share.
The report underscores that this growth demonstrates the resilience and international appeal of Morocco’s handicraft sector, highlighting the continued global demand for traditional Moroccan products.
