Marrakech, The Gulf Observer: Princess Lalla Hasnaa represented Morocco at the inaugural summit of the Global Coalition for Children, titled “Fostering the Future Together,” held at the White House in Washington on Wednesday at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump.

The high-level gathering aimed to enhance children’s well-being and promote their empowerment in the digital age through education, innovation, and technology. The summit opened with a welcome message delivered by a humanoid robot, setting the tone for discussions centered on artificial intelligence and its transformative impact.

Addressing the participants, Melania Trump underscored that in an era shaped by rapid technological advancements, the coalition’s mission is to equip children with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive. She urged partner countries and institutions to translate commitments into concrete actions, including organizing regional meetings, strengthening collaboration with the private sector, expanding access to technology, introducing innovative child protection legislation, and enhancing international cooperation.

In her remarks, Princess Lalla Hasnaa praised the “visionary leadership” of the US First Lady in launching the initiative, noting that Morocco was honored to contribute to a platform built on shared global values.

“Preparing our children for the digital age is not merely a national duty – it is a shared global responsibility,” she said, emphasizing the urgency of bridging the digital divide. She highlighted that technology must serve as a tool for empowerment and equality, rather than deepening existing disparities.

The Princess reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to the coalition by announcing plans to expand national digital protection platforms and develop comprehensive programs for digital literacy and inclusion. She also expressed Morocco’s readiness to share its expertise in digital child protection with African partners to promote collective learning and strengthen regional cooperation.

The summit featured addresses from prominent international figures, including France’s Brigitte Macron, the United Arab Emirates’ Alyazia bint Saif Al Nahyan, Poland’s Marta Nawrocka, Panama’s Maricel Cohen de Mulino, Sierra Leone’s Fatima Maada Bio, and Malawi’s Gertrude Mutharika.

At the conclusion of the event, Princess Lalla Hasnaa joined Melania Trump for a photo session and participated in a group photograph with heads of delegations. She later attended a reception hosted by the US First Lady in honor of the distinguished guests.

The summit brought together representatives from approximately 40 countries, along with leading American technology companies, serving as a platform to present national commitments and formally launch collaborative efforts under the Global Coalition for Children.
