Muscat Inaugurates Tallest Flagpole in Oman at Al Khuwair Square

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Muscat Governorate celebrated the inauguration of the tallest flagpole in the Sultanate of Oman, standing at an impressive height of 126 meters, during a ceremony held under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, and in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Hamidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality.

The flagpole, now a defining feature of the newly developed Al Khuwair Square, marks a significant addition to Muscat’s urban landscape and symbolizes national pride and unity.

In a statement, Muscat Municipality highlighted the importance of the project, noting, “It is expected that Al Khuwair Square will become a prominent landmark in Muscat Governorate, with its sustainable and environmentally friendly elements inspired by Omani identity. It will also be an ideal destination for recreation and practicing outdoor sports activities, as it contains modern facilities that meet the aspirations of the community.”

The expansive development spans over 21,000 square meters and offers a diverse range of recreational and community-focused amenities. These include landscaped green spaces covering 9,000 square meters, featuring 57 types of trees, as well as dedicated walking and cycling paths.

Al Khuwair Square also houses an open-air art and handicraft exhibition area, a skateboarding zone, and a sports zone, providing inclusive spaces for both cultural engagement and physical activity.

Supporting facilities include public restrooms and a parking lot with a capacity of 107 vehicles, ensuring accessibility and convenience for visitors.

The inauguration of the tallest flagpole not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of Muscat but also reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development and the promotion of national heritage through innovative public spaces.
