Myanmar Marks 80th Armed Forces Day with Grand Pre-Dinner Reception and Celebrations

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: A pre-dinner event commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day 2025 was hosted by Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with his wife, Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, at the square of Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday evening.

As part of the celebrations, fireworks displays were launched from the Armed Forces Day Parade Ground and Bayintnaung Village, marking the historic occasion.

The Senior General and his wife warmly welcomed a distinguished gathering, including Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Colonel General Alexander Vasilyevich Fomin and his delegation, SAC Vice-Chairman and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Vice-Senior General Soe Win and his wife, along with high-ranking officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, senior government officials, foreign military attachés, and representatives from ethnic armed organizations that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

Other notable attendees included members of Myanmar’s war veterans’ organizations, retired senior military officers, recipients of prestigious military awards, members of the Myanmar Police Force, Fire Brigade, Myanmar Red Cross Society, political party representatives, university faculty and students, and prominent figures from the media, arts, and cultural organizations.

Entertainment for the evening featured performances by artistes from Myawady Entertainment Troupe, Myanmar Police Force, and the Russian Armed Forces orchestra. A special theatrical drama titled ‘Abhidhamma of Three Flowers’ was also staged by Tatmadaw members under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare at Thabin Hall. The Senior General and his wife presented flower baskets to the performers as a token of appreciation.

Attendees also had the opportunity to view military assets, including Tatmadaw vessels, helicopters, armored vehicles, and statues of three historical emperor kings, all illuminated with decorative lighting along the road leading to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army).

The grand event served as a tribute to Myanmar’s armed forces, reflecting both military strength and cultural heritage in the presence of national and international dignitaries.
