Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Board of Trustees of the National Museum held its 13th meeting on Thursday at the Museum’s headquarters in Muscat, chaired by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The meeting focused on reviewing recent developments and future plans to enhance the Museum’s role as a premier cultural tourism destination in Oman, aiming to contribute significantly to the growth of this vital sector.

During the session, the Board approved the National Museum’s annual report for the year 2024 and discussed the establishment of a branch of the State Hermitage Museum in the Governorate of Dhofar. Additionally, the meeting deliberated on a project aimed at reviving the traditional Omani male attire to strengthen Omani identity.

As part of the Museum’s vision to promote cultural tourism and advance digital transformation, the Board also examined the development of an interactive mobile application that will showcase Oman’s cultural heritage and tourism potential in the Russian language. The app is designed to introduce Russian-speaking audiences to Oman’s rich history and cultural treasures, thereby attracting more Russian tourists to the Sultanate.
