Nationwide Religious Ceremony Marks Sultan of Brunei’s 79th Birthday
Bandar Seri Begawan, The Gulf Observer: A nationwide religious ceremony was launched yesterday to honor the 79th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The event gathered community leaders and students across the nation to pray for the continued prosperity and well-being of the country.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the ceremony took place at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and was graced by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
Meanwhile, in the Tutong District, the ceremony was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque and attended by Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin.
In the Belait District, the event took place at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait, with Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha as the guest of honour. Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad also attended, along with penghulus, village heads, members from mukim and village consultative councils (MPMKs), and students from schools and higher education institutions. The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by Al-Quran verses recited by MPMK members and participating students.
In the Temburong District, the ceremony was held at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque with the presence of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad.
The nationwide ceremonies symbolized unity and devotion, reflecting the collective prayers and well-wishes of the Bruneian people for His Majesty’s health and the continued progress of the nation.
