New Uzbek Language and Culture Center Named after Alisher Navoi Set to Open in Azerbaijan

Baku, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, led by Rector Shukhrat Sirojiddinov, participated in a series of significant events in Azerbaijan at the invitation of President Isa Habibbayli of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. The delegation’s visit coincided with the solemn ceremony commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Institute of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi and included engagements aimed at fostering academic cooperation and celebrating cultural achievements.

One of the highlights of the visit was the presentation of Mahmud Kashgari’s book “Divan Lugat at-Turk”, organized by the Imomiddin Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. This publication, based on a translation by Khalid Saidkhojayev, a Jadid of Uzbek origin, remained undiscovered for nearly a century until recent scientific research uncovered its significance. Rector Sirojiddinov conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Uzbek intelligentsia, recognizing the importance of the publication in advancing research in world Turkology.

The delegation also participated in a scientific conference in Ganja, commemorating the 115th anniversary of the birth of the esteemed Azerbaijani scholar, Hamid Arasli. Uzbek scientists, led by Academician Sirojiddinov, presented scholarly reports, contributing to the intellectual discourse and academic exchange during the event. Additionally, a productive meeting between the Uzbek delegation and local scientists and intellectuals was held at the Ganja Regional Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, fostering discussions on collaboration opportunities between institutions.

As a testament to the commitment to academic partnership, an agreement was reached to establish the Uzbek Language and Culture Center named after Alisher Navoi in Ganja. This initiative aims to strengthen ties between Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, Ganja University, and the Ganja Branch of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, fostering cultural exchange and academic collaboration for the benefit of both nations.

The visit of the Tashkent State University delegation not only celebrated literary milestones but also exemplified the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, paving the way for continued collaboration in academia and cultural exchange.
