Olaf Scholz makes phone call to Ilham Aliyev
Baku, The Gulf Observer: Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday, according to media reports.
During the phone talk views on regional issues were exchanged.
Olaf Scholz expressed Germany’s support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the region’s countries. He emphasized that his country supports the Brussels process led by Charles Michel, the President of the Council of the European Union. The German Chancellor highly appreciated the visit of the UN Resident Coordinator in the city of Khankandi in Azerbaijan as a positive step.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to the regional peace agenda and its close support for the Brussels process conducted with the participation of the EC President Charles Michel.
Mr. President noted the humanitarian assistance provided by the central government of Azerbaijan to the Armenian-origin residents of Garabagh, said that services are provided to them in the fields of migration and social protection, and said that the relevant registration processes have started and a separate portal has been established for this.
As a demonstration of the transparency provided by Azerbaijan in this field, President Ilham Aliyev said that a group consisting of representatives of the UN resident coordinating office in Azerbaijan and UN specialized institutions visited the area and they also issued a statement that no damage was recorded to the civilian population and civil-public infrastructure.
