Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent starting in June 2026, further expanding its international network and strengthening air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and Central Asia.

The new service will operate twice weekly, offering passengers convenient travel between the two capitals. The Tashkent route marks the eighth destination unveiled by the airline since last December, underscoring its continued growth strategy.

Tashkent, one of Uzbekistan’s largest cities, is increasingly recognized as a rising tourist destination, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, historic landmarks, and vibrant public spaces. The introduction of direct flights is expected to boost inbound tourism to Oman while also enhancing bilateral trade and cultural ties between the two nations.

Historically linked through the ancient Silk Road, Oman and Uzbekistan share longstanding cultural and commercial connections. The new route will provide travelers with the opportunity to explore two culturally distinct yet historically interconnected destinations.

Oman Air Chief Executive Officer Con Korfiatis said the launch of the Tashkent service reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to building a commercially sustainable network that balances direct market demand with strategic expansion into emerging markets.

He noted that Central Asia is a region of growing importance for both leisure and business travel, and the new route aligns with Oman’s broader tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and neighboring countries.

Korfiatis added that the approximately four-hour flight will provide seamless access to one of Central Asia’s most attractive destinations, offering a convenient option for both business and leisure travelers.

The launch further positions Oman Air as a key connector between the Gulf region and Central Asia, reinforcing Muscat’s role as an expanding international aviation hub.
