Oman and Somalia Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation in Livestock

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Federal Republic of Somalia took significant steps toward strengthening bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting held in Muscat on Tuesday. Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, welcomed Hassan Hussein Mohamed, Somalia’s Minister of Livestock, Forestry, and Range, to discuss strategic partnerships and mutual interests.

The discussions centered on expanding collaboration in the livestock and meat sectors and fostering joint investment ventures. Both parties underscored the importance of enhancing trade and economic ties to secure shared benefits and contribute to the development of vital sectors in both countries.

As a major outcome, the two ministers agreed to establish a joint trade and investment forum in Oman, a move expected to catalyze partnerships and provide a platform for further cooperation in priority areas. Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, and Bashir Hassan Haji, Somalia’s Ambassador-designate to Oman, attended the meeting alongside other senior officials from both countries.

The dialogue reflects Oman and Somalia’s mutual commitment to strengthening economic ties and exploring growth opportunities in sectors critical to their respective economies.
